The Dragonfly Wood is located at Tamar Lake Forest School on Lower Tamar Lake Road on the Cornwall-Devon border.  We are near Thurdon, which is near Kilkhampton, on the on the A39 between Bude and Bideford.

Using the A39 Bude to Kilkhampton

Travel from BUDE on the A39 until you get to KILKHAMPTON (about 4 miles).  

Travelling from Kilkhampton/Bude
After you pass Kilkhampton primary school on the left, turn right onto the B3254  (East Road) signed to ‘Launceston, Holsworthy and Tamar Lakes Water Park’.  

Take the left turn on the wide corner, again signposted to the Lakes.

Continue on this lane through Forda and Thurdon.

Do not turn left to Upper Tamar Lake. Continue past Tamar Lake Farm campsite and take the next left towards Lower Tamar Lake. 

After the first house on the left (Tamar Lake View) park inside the double gates on the left. Please park at Lower Lake if there is no space inside the gates.

If you cross the Tamar and leave Cornwall you have missed the lake, and us.

You will find us through the open gate and left over the field to the open barn.


Travelling from Holsworthy
Travel out of Holsworthy on the Chilsworthy Road towards Bradworthy, signposted to Tamar Lakes, opposite the garage.

Continue past turnings to Pancrasweek and Kilkhampton.

At Solden Cross take the left turn signed to Tamar Lakes Water Park (though only the brown and white symbol is shown on the sign here.)

The turning has a post box and phone box on the corner with a small layby and is opposite the right turn to Sutcombe Saw Mills.

Follow this lane all the way down, crossing the Cornwall-Devon border.

At the Lower Tamar Lake sign continue on the same lane, past Springfield Nursery and turn into the next double gates on the right.

You will find us through the open gate and left over the field to the open barn.


Travelling from Bradworthy

Travel towards Holsworthy on the Chilsworthy Road.

Continue past turnings Tamar Lake Water Park, until you reach Solden Cross, with a post box and phone box on the right in a small layby.

Turn right here signed to Tamar Lakes Water Park (though only the brown and white symbol is shown on the sign here.) 

The turning has and the right turn would tale you to Sutcombe Saw Mills.

Follow this lane all the way down, crossing the Cornwall Devon border.

Travelling from Red Post crossroads

Take the road signposted to Kilkhampton.

Continue until 1 mile from Kilkhampton, past the East Thorne Yurts. Turn right on the next wide corner, signposted to Tamar Lakes.

Continue on this lane through Forda and Thurdon.

Do not turn left to Upper Tamar Lake. Continue past Tamar Lake Farm campsite and take the next left towards Lower Tamar Lake.
