Forest School Programme Leadership Award

Level 3 training qualifies a learner to lead forest school sessions with their chosen client group. If you are interested in setting up a forest school or starting forest school activities with early years, primary and secondary children this course is designed for you.
Course content includes: the woodland environment, using natural materials, fire-lighting, risk and safety, the forest school ethos, planning and evaluation of forest school activities, campfire cooking, sustainable woodland site management, play and learning theories, forest school research, character development through forest school.

Entry criteria for Level 3:
Hold a current DBS certificate (or Disclosure Scotland Certificate)
Have at least 2 years experience of working with children/young people.
Be aged 21 or over.
Have suitable outdoor clothing.Have, or be in the process of acquiring, a current valid First Aid certificate.
The course:
Ten day practical taught sessions in the Dragonfly Wood, with one-to-one tutorial time and practice feedback during the six week placement.Tutor visit to your local outdoor learning site.
Additional self study to complete the evidence portfolio for submission (ten months after the course start date), with ongoing support throughout the course as required.
Six week placement experience during the course, at your own site, or at the Dragonfly Wood site.

Cost:
£800 (includes the registration and certification with NOCN). Please note that completion of the Level 1 and 2 course at the Dragonfly Wood reduces the cost of the Level 3 courses.

All courses are available as practice skills days at £75 per day, with no additional self-study, evidence requirement or accreditation.
