In every season, with children of all ages and abilities, and always in the natural environment, we have been sharing outdoor learning adventures with groups at our site for six years, and previously at school sites in and out of the UK. While we value the many benefits of Forest School, we also understand that many groups are able to offer children time outdoors by working towards curriculum linked aims to build upon back in the classroom.

Learning themes we have covered include nature, science, language, maths, history, geography and art. Some of the themes we have covered in six week programmes of work are listed below.

  • Australia and Aborigines
  • Around the World
  • Autumn Harvest
  • Bees, Bugs and Butterflies
  • The Celts
  • Code Breaking
  • Dinosaurs
  • Jungle
  • The Elements
  • Maths Challenges
  • Muddy Maps
  • Native Americans
  • Pirates
  • Pond Life
  • Spoken story adventures
  • Trees
  • Woodland animals … and many more.

Our 2018 calendar will be available in January, with suggested themes and activities to inspire outdoor learning in every month of the year. The calendar is a starting point to encourage more learning outside the classroom with powerful experiences for children to develop deep understanding of the world around them in all areas of learning.
